👋 Hello! Nice To Meet You!

Today you will learn how English speakers say hello, introduce themselves, spell their name, and say thank you and goodbye. Ready? Let's meet some new friends!

🎬 Let's Imagine...

A New Kid At School

Read the little scene below. It's Zoe's first day at a new school in England!

Zoe (new girl)Hi! I'm Zoe. I'm new here.
MaxHello, Zoe! My name is Max. Nice to meet you!
ZoeNice to meet you too, Max!
MaxWould you like to sit with us at lunch?

🤔 In just a few words, Zoe and Max became friends! Do you know how to say all of that in English? Let's find out together!

Zoe, a new girl with a backpack, waves hello to Max, a boy holding a soccer ball, in a sunny primary-school playground
Zoe is new at school — she waves hello to Max on the playground.
Step 1

👋 Say Hello!

There are two friendly ways to greet someone in English. Both are correct!

👋

Hi!

A short, casual and very friendly way to say hello. Perfect for friends!

🙋

Hello.

A little more polite — great for meeting someone new, or an adult.

Now, Introduce Yourself!

To say your name, you can use either of these — they mean exactly the same thing.

Short way

  • "I'm Nora." (I'm = I am)

Full way

  • "My name is Nora."
Step 2

🤝 Nice To Meet You!

When you want to know someone's name, or you just met a new friend, use these phrases.

What's your name?

This is how you ask someone's name. "What's" = "What is".

💬

My name is...

This is how you answer. Example: "My name is Nour."

🤝

Nice to meet you!

Say this the first time you meet someone — it shows you're happy to know them.

😊

Nice to meet you too!

The friendly reply when someone says "Nice to meet you" to you.

Step 3

🔤 Spelling My Name

Sometimes people ask you to spell your name, letter by letter — especially if it's a new or difficult name!

The Question

  • "How do you spell your name?"
  • "How do you spell that?"

The Answer

  • "It's S-A-M-I." (say each letter!)

Step 4

🙏 Thank You & Goodbye

Before we leave a conversation, we're always polite — and we say goodbye nicely!

🙏

Thank you!

Say this when someone helps you or gives you something.

😊

You're welcome.

The polite reply to "Thank you" — it means "no problem!"

👋

Goodbye! / Bye!

Both mean the same thing — "Bye" is just shorter and more casual.
