🏭 Gerunds As Subjects
A gerund is a noun made from the -ing form of a verb. It can be the subject of a sentence, like any other noun.
🧩 Gerund = subject
- "Swimming is her favorite activity."
- "Cooking for my family is a lot of fun."
- "Playing soccer is good exercise."
- "I love doing karate."
✏️ Spelling rules
- vowel + consonant → double: swim → swimming, run → running
- ends in -e → remove it: live → living, ride → riding
- exception: ski → skiing (two i!)
- most verbs → just +ing: play → playing (you saw it in Lesson 31!)

📊 Quantifiers — How Many People?
📖 Weekends In Tunisia
In Tunisia, a lot of people love the weekend. Most families have lunch together on Sunday — couscous is a favorite! In the summer, many people go to the beach, so swimming is very popular. A lot of young people play soccer: it's the favorite sport in the country.
Some people go hiking in the green mountains of Aïn Draham, and some families go for a drive to visit their relatives or have a picnic. Few people go skiing — there isn't much snow! And not many people stay at home all weekend. Spending time with family is the best part of the weekend.
