🚇 How Do I Get There? — Buses, Lines & Travel Time

Let's travel around town! Today you will ask "How do I get to the museum?", give transportation advice (go by bus · take the train · walk), talk about the number 17 bus and the blue line, explain where to get on, change and get off, and say how long the trip is: "It takes about 20 minutes."

🎬 Let's Imagine...

Step 1

🚌 Asking For And Giving Transportation Advice

Ask someone how to get to a place. Then tell them which transportation to use.

❓ Asking

  • How do I get to the museum?
  • How do I get there? (no "to" before there!)
  • How long does it take?

💡 Advice

  • go by + transportation: You should go by bus.
  • get there by + transportation: You can get there by subway.
  • take the + transportation: Take the bus. It's raining. · You can take the train to the beach.
⚡

After by, no "the": "go by bus" ✅ — not "by the bus" ❌. After take, use "the": "take the bus" ✅. And without transportation, you go on foot — or simply say "walk".
