🗓️ Do You Have Any Plans?
The final task of the hobbies unit! Today you will learn two reading strategies (find the main idea quickly · scan an events calendar for one detail) and talk about plans and possibilities: "Do you have any plans for the weekend?" · "I know he enjoys…" · "He probably likes…" · "Maybe he enjoys…"
A Cousin From Out Of Town
Leo's cousin Ayoub comes from Sfax this weekend. He's from out of town, and he doesn't know Tunis. Leo talks to Nora.
🤔 Do you have any plans for the weekend?

📖 Reading For The Main Idea
You understand a text better if you first read it quickly for the main idea. Use these three strategies:
🎵 Playing My Flute
I'm really into playing my flute. I usually play it on weekends and in the evening after my homework. I can play many beautiful songs, and I'm pretty good at it. My favorite flute player is my music teacher, Miss Amira. I often listen to her songs at night. They help me relax.
🔎 The title, the picture 🎵 and the topic sentence all tell you the main idea: this text is about a girl who loves playing her flute.
🕵️ The Main Idea Detective
You have only 15 seconds per text! Read the title and the first sentence, then choose the main idea. 6 texts.
🔍 Scanning An Events Calendar
When you look for one piece of information, you don't need to read the whole text. Scan it quickly:

🗓️ Talking About Plans And Possibilities
Ask about plans, ask what is possible, and say how sure you are.
❓ Plans & possibility
- A: Do you have any plans for the weekend? — B: Yes, I'm visiting my grandmother.
- Use can for possibility: A: Can you show him around? — B: Of course.
There's probably an exhibit at the museum.
Position! probably goes before the verb ("They probably like…"), but after be ("There's probably an exhibit"). Maybe goes at the beginning of the sentence.
📊 The Certainty Meter
How sure is the person? Read the clue and choose know, probably or maybe. 8 sentences.
🗺️ Show Him Around!
