Use the question word why to ask for a reason. Use the word because to give a reason.
❓ Ask with why
- Why did you go to Djerba?
- Why do you love swimming?

💬 Answer with because
- I went to Djerba because it's beautiful!
- I love swimming because it's exciting.
- She's happy because it's her birthday.
🗣️ Short answer
- In spoken English, answer with only the because part:
- Why did you go to Djerba?
- — Because it's beautiful!
because introduces the reason clause: because it's exciting. The main clause gives the topic: I love surfing. In a full sentence you need both: I love surfing because it's exciting. In a short answer, the main clause is understood.
