🏅 She's A Real Team Player!

Mom is evaluating her team at the bookstore, and Adam has to evaluate his science project group. Learn the words for good and bad work qualities, how to give constructive criticism, how to use too and enough, and how to agree with So do I and Neither do I.

🎬 Let's Imagine...

Two Report Cards

Thursday evening. Mom is working at the kitchen table. Adam comes in with his science project poster.

MomI'm writing performance appraisals for my team at the bookstore. Nour is hardworking and efficient — she does a really good job.
AdamI have to evaluate my project group too! Ziad is so disorganized, and Yassine is too negative. He thinks too much about problems.
MomTry constructive criticism: "Ziad needs to be more organized. Yassine should be more positive." And Salma? I think she does a really good job. — Adam: So do I! She's creative enough to design the whole poster.
🧑‍🏫 Teacher Samitoo + adjective = more than desired: too negative. Adjective + enough = sufficient: creative enough. And to agree: So do I!

🤔 What makes a good teammate in a school project?

Step 1 · Vocabulary

🏅 Evaluating Work Qualities

In a company, a manager writes performance appraisals (evaluations) for the employees. At school, you can use the same words to talk about a team project. Click a card to hear it.

👍 Positive qualities

👎 Negative qualities

💬 Constructive Criticism

A more positive way to talk about someone's weak points: don't just say what is wrong — say what the person needs to or should do.

She's so disorganized.
She needs to be more organized.
He's too negative.
He should be more positive.
He's always late.
He needs to be on time. He's getting better!

⚖️ Plus Or Minus?

Is it a positive or a negative work quality? 8 rounds.

🛠️ Make It Constructive!

Choose the kindest, most useful way to say it. 6 rounds.

Step 2 · Grammar

🌡️ Too And Enough

Three patterns to say if something is more than necessary, sufficient or not sufficient.

🔥 too

too + adjective

= more than necessary, more than desired

Her project is late because she's too disorganized.

The tea is too hot. I can't drink it!

✅ enough

adjective + enough

= sufficient, satisfactory

Salma is hardworking and efficient enough to be the team leader.

🧊 not … enough

not + adjective + enough

= not sufficient, unsatisfactory

The water isn't warm enough for swimming.

He's not creative enough to work in marketing.

⚡

Watch the position! too goes before the adjective (too hot), enough goes after it (hot enough). Never say enough hot. And too is usually negative: "It's too beautiful" sounds strange — say "It's very beautiful!"

🌡️ The Too-Meter

Look at the meter, then complete the sentence. 8 rounds.

Step 3 · Expressions

🤝 I Think… — So Do I! / Neither Do I!

Give your opinion with I think (that) + a sentence. To agree, the answer depends on the sentence: positive → So do I. Negative (I don't think…) → Neither do I.

👍 Positive → So do I

MomI think Nour does a really good job.
DadSo do I.

👎 Negative → Neither do I

AdamI don't think Salma is lazy.
KarimNeither do I.

🎯 So Or Neither?

You agree. What do you say? 8 rounds.
