🚗 We Drove To Tabarka!

Everybody had a busy weekend! Learn the three families of irregular past verbs (go → went · make → made · cut → cut), the verb that changes its sound but not its spelling (read), and lots of weekend activities in the past. Then race the clock in the Irregular Sprint!

🎬 Let's Imagine...

The Weekend Photos

Monday, 7 p.m. The family shares weekend photos on the big screen in the living room.

DadOn Saturday, we drove to Tabarka. Grandma brought a big gift for the twins, and we ate grilled fish by the sea!
LinaOn Sunday, I went jogging with Mom. Then I read a great novel and Adam and I played a board game.
AdamAnd I made lunch! I cut the tomatoes, and Mom let me cook the pasta all by myself.
🧑‍🏫 Teacher SamiMany common verbs are irregular: drive → drove, bring → brought, eat → ate, go → went. Some change one letter: make → made. Some don't change at all: cut → cut, let → let. And read → read… but listen to the sound!

🤔 What did you do last weekend? Use three irregular verbs!

Step 1 · Grammar

🗂️ Three Families Of Irregular Verbs

Many verbs are irregular in the past: you can't just add -ed. They're easier to learn in families. Click a pair to hear it.

⚡

The best trick: learn the families, then say each pair out loud three times. The "no change" family is easy — but be careful in the present: he cuts (now) · he cut (past).

🗂️ Which Family?

⏱️ The Irregular Sprint

Step 2 · Pronunciation

📖 Read Or Read?

The verb read has the same spelling in the present and the past — but a different pronunciation. Listen!

💡

Look for clues: a time expression (last week, yesterday), another past verb, or he / she without -s → it's the past! She reads every day (present) · She read all night (past).
