Today you will learn computer lab vocabulary, how to use "this" and "that" to talk about things nearby or far away, how to introduce people to each other, and the possessive adjectives (my, your, his, her...).

🖥️ Computer Lab Vocabulary
Here are the words for the things in a computer lab.
Computer
The machine you use to work and play.
Monitor
The screen that shows you the picture.
Keyboard
You type letters and numbers with it.
Mouse
You click and move it with your hand.
Headphones
You wear them on your ears to listen.
Microphone
You speak into it to record your voice.
Chair
You sit on it in front of your desk.
Desk
The table where you work.
👉 This Or That?
Use "this" for something close to you, and "that" for something far away.
This (close)
- "This is my desk."
- "This is light."
That (far)
- "That is your desk."
- "That's heavy."
Tricky rule: there's no short form for "this is" (we never say "this's") — but "that's" IS a real contraction for "that is"!
Making It Negative
This is not...
"This is not your desk."
That is not...
"That is not my desk." · "That is not Mary."
🤝 Introducing People
We also use "this is" to introduce people to one another!
The Introduction
- "Leo, this is Yara."
- "Yara, this is Leo."
The Reply
- "Nice to meet you!"
- "Nice to meet you too!"
❓ Questions With This/That
To make a question, move "is" to the front of the sentence.
Is this your computer?
"No, it isn't."
Is that your computer?
"Yes, it is."
Is that Yara?
"Yes, it is."
🎒 Whose Is It? — Possessive Adjectives
We use a possessive adjective to show who an object belongs to. There's always a noun right after it!
